So what types of products go into our stacks? Each stack is specially designed to meet specific fitness goals and needs. Muscle Building, Power, and Endurance
Pre-Workout: Pre-workout supplements are great for preparing your body for the stresses of exercise and aids in giving you an extra edge to push yourself beyond where you thought you could and accelerate fat loss and helping to building muscle. Effective components can include Nitric Oxide Boosters, which naturally increase your body’s production of nitric oxide aiding in dilating your blood vessels allowing more oxygen and nutrients into the muscle cells to aid in performance, Caffeine, which great for boosting energy and aiding in increasing muscle endurance and strength, as well as mental focus, as well as other amino acids and energy and performance enhancers.
Proteins: Protein is critical to both muscle building and fat loss but for slightly different reasons. For fat loss, you want to ensure you have enough protein to provide your body to ensure it use the protein you consume not the protein in your muscles when you are in a caloric deficit. You also want to consume more protein to ensure you remain in a positive nitrogen balance and thus an anabolic state. The types of protein and timing are also important, but for a great general fat loss stack protein, I go with a protein blend that offers a longer sustained amount of protein to be absorbed throughout the day and night. Specific proteins in our stacks include Whey for quick absorption, Slow Digesting for aiding in anabolic environment during sleep, and Post Workout to quickly replenish your muscles and aid in repair and recovery. BCAAs: Branched Chain Amino Acids are comprised of three of the most vital amino acids in the formation and repair of muscle. Leucine, Iso-Leucine, and Valine work together in specific ratios which provide the greatest benefit from these amino acids. Although ratios of these BCAAs range from 2:1:2 to 12:1:1, the higher amount of Leucine has been proven to have the greatest benefit to muscle recovery and the prevention of muscle breakdown. BCAAs are beneficial intra-workout to help prevent muscle breakdown and reduce Delayed Onset Muscle Soarness (DOMS).
Creatine: Creatine is found naturally in your body and many meats (especially red meat). Creatine aids in the creation of ATP, adenosine triphosphate, which provides energy for muscle contractions. It also increases water absorption by cells and allows for more nutrients to enter your cells and helps to build muscle quicker. Creatine also aids in muscular endurance and reduced Delayed Onset Muscle Soarness (DOMS). Like proteins, creatine has been well researched and the claims that high protein intake or creatine damage kidneys has been disproven in study after study.
Glutamine: This amino acid aids in preserving existing muscle and acts as an alternate energy source in conditions when blood glucose is low, as when dieting or eating less carbohydrates. Glutamine also aids in digestion and decreases cravings for carbohydrates and sugars.
Nutrition and Health
Multivitamin: Multivitamins provide a balance of vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that most people lack in some form. Produce grown today are genetically altered to yield larger fruits and vegetables, higher quantities, and quicker growth than in the past. This results in produce that is much less nutritionally dense than our ancestors ate. Because of this, even the most health conscience individual may not be getting all the nutrients they need to thrive. This leads to illnesses and other chronic diseases, not to mention poor athletic performance, slow gym gains, and difficulty in reaching fitness goals. Therefore, taking a multivitamin is important to a healthy life, especial for active individuals.
Fish Oils: Essential Fatty Acids are essential to the human body but can only be found in a few species of fish. Research suggests fish oil’s fatty acids can assist with heart function, carbohydrate breakdown and joint health. Fish oils also support brain and vision health.
Vitamin D3: Vitamin D3 is the most bioavailable form of vitamin D. Vitamin D3 enhances calcium and phosphorous absorption, stimulates the synthesis of osteocalcin (an important structural protein in bone), supports bone health and supports a healthy immune response.
Joint Supplement: Intense training, especially resistance and impact training, puts high levels of stress on your muscles, joints, and connective tissues. Joint supplements, especially those included in our stacks, support joint cartilage, comfort, mobility and flexibility aiding in recovery and helping to prevent injury and keeping your joints healthy.
Probiotic: Probiotics contain strains that help protect and maintain a balanced intestinal microflora, and support immune function and intestinal health. A health digestive system keeps you healthy, aids in digestion and absorption of nutrients, and improves mood so you can effectively meet your fitness and nutrition goals.
Fat Loss, Cutting, and Muscle Preservation
HMB: Beta-Hydroxy Beta-Methyl Butyrate is derived from Leucine and is a more readily used form by the muscle tissue. HMB has been proven to be more effective than BCAAs in maintaining an anabolic state especially when training fastest because it is a more easily used form. HMB is crucial for those cutting or seeking fat loss while training with heavy weights.
Fat Burners: There are all sorts of fat burning compounds out there; however, some are more effective and natural than others. Those below are great aiding in burning that extra fat, increasing metabolic speed, and keeping you full longer when at a caloric deficit.
Garcina Cambogia: Hydroxycitric acid (HCA) is a substance isolated from the exotic fruit Garcinia Cambogia. Supplementation with HCA has been suggested to support appetite control, increases excretion of urinary fat metabolites (a biomarker of fat burning), and boosts fat burning during exercise and enhances glycogen synthesis in muscle that has been exercised. HCA also supports serotonin levels, also known as the pleasure hormone, and is thus especially beneficial for those with carb/sugar cravings, and as an adjunct to low-carb diets.
Yohimbine: Yohimbine is a strong alpha adrenergic (αAR-2) receptor antagonist and a potent stimulant fat burner, mainly through inhibiting the regulatory process in fat cells, which normally suppresses fat burning. Yohimbine has strong effects on the central nervous system, and can exert a potent stimulant effect through increasing adrenaline levels in the body.
CLA: Conjugated linoleic acid is a naturally occurring fatty acid. CLA has been shown in studies to help in fighting cancer, decreasing body fat, increasing lean muscle tissue, lessen symptoms of asthma, fight high blood pressure and heart disease, enhancing bone density, improving insulin sensitivity, and boosting immunity. Another study also showed that CLA helps to decrease feelings of hunger and increase feelings of fullness.

Whole Foods, Hydration, Supplementation
NUTRITION is the cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle which is why we made it the base of our Recomp Life PyramidTM. Whether your goal is fat loss, strength, toning, energy, disease and ailment prevention, and/or overall health, good, solid NUTRITION is truly 90% of the equation.
NUTRITION, as part of the Recomp Life PyramidTM, is broken into three distinct elements; Whole Foods, Hydration, and Supplementation. At Recomp Fitness and NutritionTM, we believe that Whole Foods and adequate Hydration should be the primary source of your daily NUTRITION. However, with the modern food industry finding new and cheaper ways to grow foods quicker and larger to increase their profits and the shelf life off foods, including fruits and vegetables, the concentration and amount of nutrients in Whole Foods is no where near what it was a century ago. Therefore even the healthiest of us need various degrees of supplementation to ensure all essential vitamins and minerals are provided to your body; especially when training for muscle growth and/or fat loss.

Resistance, Cardio, HIIT
EXERCISE is vital to a healthy lifestyle. It has been proven in study after study that regular EXERCISE has the following benefits:

It has been scientifically proven that regular EXERCISE can help prevent, treat, or even cure more than 40 of the most common chronic health conditions encountered by doctors. However, the sad news is that only 31% of Americans are engaged in regular EXERCISE. We can help you change that with the support of our Certified Personal Trainers at Recomp!
EXERCISE is also vital to achieving your fitness goals; whether fat loss, toning, endurance, strength, or muscle hypertrophy. The amount and types of EXERCISE you perform, and how it is incorporated into a balanced fitness and nutrition program, plays a significant role in achieving your specific fitness goals.
The second tier in the Recomp Life PyramidTM, EXERCISE, is broken into three main elements; Resistance, Cardio, and High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). Resistance training is the backbone of the EXERCISE element, with varying levels of cardio and HIIT incorporated in depending on if your goals are fat loss, improved endurance, or increased strength and hypertrophy.
Although EXERCISE and NUTRITION are the primary tiers of the Recomp Life PyramidTM, they are only truly balanced with proper REBUILD and FOCUS.
Sleep and Recovery
REBUILD is as important as solid, consistent EXERCISE and good NUTRITION. We placed it in a lower tier solely because without EXERCISE, REBUILD is not as critical a factor in improving the quality of your life. However, elements of it, like sleep remain very critical. REBUILD, as part of the Recomp Life PyramidTM, is broken into two main elements; sleep and recovery.
Proper sleep is critical to reset your mental FOCUS, repair damages done to your body from pollutants, sun, stress, and exercise, and has been shown to reduce the risk of many diseases and cancers. Sleep is also vitally important in meeting your fitness goals. During sleep hormones like testosterone and human growth hormone (HGH) are naturally released repairing and building muscle stimulated from the EXERCISE done previously. Muscle repair, which must occur prior to building stronger and bigger muscles, cannot occur optimally without proper sleep. Additionally, lack of sleep has been shown to increase cravings of sugary and high carbohydrate foods making sticking to your NUTRITION plan more difficult.
So how much sleep do you need? Recent studies on sleep have shown that 7 hours a night seems to be the optimal amount for most people. Those who slept less or more than 7 hours a night showed mental decline in cognitive tests. Those who slept less than 5 hours or more than 9 hours showed greater trouble remembering and solving problems than those who slept 7 hours. People who sleep 5 to 6 hours a night are 20% more likely to be overweight and 57% more likely to be obese. The same goes to for those who sleep more than 8 hours.
So shoot for 7 hours a night, especially when your are placing additional stresses on your body during fat loss and muscle building activities.
Recovery refers to the days in between your training. These recovery periods are critical to ensure you do not over train causing further stresses in your body and making it difficult for your body to remain in an anabolic state, or a state which promotes muscle growth. Additionally, over training and lack of sleep create conditions in your body which promote fat storage.
The proper amounts of sleep and recovery between training sessions are very important, and Recomp will help you find the optimal amount of each based on your specific goals and circumstances.
Mind and Meditation
FOCUS is the final tier in the Recomp Life PyramidTM which enhances your fitness path by keeping you motivated, increases the mind-muscle connection, and aids in de-stressing you mentally from the days activities. FOCUS is broken into two main elements; mind and meditation.
Mind refers to the narrowing down of your thoughts and images into what you are about to do; whether it be perform a set of bench presses or run 10 miles. It has been shown in studies, and my personal experience, that strict mental focus on what you are about to do prepares the mind and the body for the journey ahead and strengthens and speeds the mind-body connection. Just by focusing and seeing yourself pressing a heavy set of dumbbells in the air will give you more strength to do so simply from the power of the mind-muscle connection.
Meditation is the act of clearing the mind and focusing on your breathing and not your surroundings, what happened in the day, or what tasks you have ahead. Proper meditation and breathing lowers your stress and blood pressure and clears your mind of the clutter that has built up, preparing you to tackle that next task ahead; whether it is resistance training, cardio, or a presentation at work.
